March 2026 Tornado Response

A disorganized circulation touched down northwest of the intersection of Runkle Street and Conrad Road, destroying an attached garage and damaging the front of the home. One fatality, a 12-year-old boy, was confirmed at the home.

The tornado continued northeast, causing damage to mainly trees with some minor roof damage as it moved across Yankee Street, east of Dailey Road. The tornado then widened and intensified with the peak damage occurring along Harris Street, between HEss Road and M-62 where numerous trees were snapped or uprooted.

Some damage to pole barns and homes (mainly roofs) was noted. The tornado crossed M-62 and continued northeast, crossing portions of Oil City Road and Monette Street to Curtis, Day and Chain Lakes before lifting just east of the intersection of South and Walnut Roads.d

Dispose of Debris

Two dumpsters have been provided by the County to dispose of debris. Look for the lime green RB Trucking dumpsters at: 

• the corner of Hess and Yankee Streets
• 1/4-mile west of M-62 on Harris Road

Please follow the instructions provided. No brush, tires or batteries should be disposed in these dumpsters.

Cass County will host a Hazardous Waste and Used Tire Collection from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 4 for Cass County residents. Find a complete list of accepted items here.

• Southwest Michigan Cares is a regional fund collecting financial donations for those impacted in Edwardsburg, Three Rivers and Union City.  
• Edwardsburg Public Schools is collecting donations — primarily gift cards for restaurants and big box stores.
• Michigan Storm Chasers has organized an Amazon Wishlist to help those impacted in Edwardsburg, Three Rivers and Union City.
• Samaritan's Purse is taking volunteers for a cleanup day later this month.  
• The Edwardsburg Emergency Fund was established by Hope of Edwardsburg and the Edwardsburg Food Pantry to help those in need.
