Join in the spooky fun! Trunks wanted for upcoming fall festival

trunk or treat

VANDALIA, Mich. — Cass County Parks are brewing up something special and inviting the community to be a part of it.

The parks’ popular Harvest Fest and Trunk-n-Treat will return Oct. 21 to Dr. TK Lawless Park in Vandalia, from 2 to 5 p.m. Co-hosted by the Cass County Parks Department, The Friends of Cass County Parks, and Michiana Jeeps Club, this event typically draws hundreds of people from Cass County and beyond.

With the event just more than a month away, organizers are now seeking “trunks” to participate in the Trunk-n-Treat portion of the event. Organizations, clubs and families interested in being part of the event are invited to provide a safe display of goodies to hand out to costumed children. To participate, those interested must sign up by calling (269) 445-4470 to sign up.

In addition to Trunk-n-Treat, which runs from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21, the parks have planned several other activities and amenities to span the entire event from 2 to 5 p.m.  Back by popular request, friendly, dressed up dogs on leashes will have the chance participate in a special Dog Costume Contest. Their humans will have their own costume contest, too, so all are encouraged to dress up.

Other activities include a family fun trail, choo choo train, hayride, face painting, zip line, bonfire, and free pumpkins for children 10 and under while supplies last.  The Friends of Cass County Parks will have concessions available for purchase.

The entire event takes place at Dr. TK Lawless Park, 15122 Monkey Run St., Vandalia, MI 49095.

Admission is one canned good per person, $1 per person, or a donation of pet supplies for Cass County Animal Control.
