Cass County Historical Society to host summer of activities

History buffs from Cass County and beyond will have the opportunity to learn about the County’s past at various events hosted at the Newton House this summer.

The first Sunday of each month, June through October, the Cass County Historical Society will host an open house from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the historic Newton House, 20689 Marcellus Hwy., Decatur, MI 49045, adjacent to Russ Forest Park.

 

June 4

Plein-Air Paintings

1 to 4:30 p.m.

Blue Dart Artists will display and talk about their Newton House Art Works.

 

July 2

Garden Party

1 to 4:30 p.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a garden talk and tour of the property. Refreshments will be served.

 

August 6

Kiddies Day Parade

1 to 4:30 p.m.

Children will be featured in an old-fashioned Kiddies Day Parade. Guests are encouraged to bring costumes, decorated bikes, wagons, and pets (leashed or caged) for the chance to win participant prizes.

 

September 3

Old Tool Day

1 to 4:30 p.m.

September's event will feature a farm tool demonstration. Guests are invited to bring an old tool and describe its use.

 

October 1

Fall Fest

1 to 4:30 p.m.

Rounding out the summer of activities is the Cass County Historical Society's Annual Fall Fest, a family-fun day with food, activities, demonstrations, hayrides, vendors and more.
