2016 Election Inspector Training

Be involved in the election process by applying to work as an election inspector. A registered voter in the State of Michigan may serve as an election inspector. There are many roles that must be filled on Election Day including checking in voters, verifying their identification or handing them a ballot. Each township establishes a pay scale for election inspectors. Most townships offer $10-$12 per hour.

To work the polls, you must attend training provided by the County Clerk. The 2016 training sessions are listed below. All sessions will take place at the Squires Education Center, 725 Center Street in Cassopolis.

Tuesday, June 7th at 9:00 a.m.

Wednesday, June 8th at 9:00 a.m.

Thursday, June 9th at 12:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 14th at 9:00 a.m.

Wednesday, June 15th at 9:00 a.m.

Thursday, June 16th at 12:00 p.m.

Saturday, June 18th at 9:00 a.m.

Notice of Intent to Forfeit

The Cass County Sheriff's Office is in the process of forfeiting items related to the cases listed here.  In accordance with Michigan law, the items have been run through the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) to verify ownership, or to check for lost or stolen reports.  The items have had negative results in all three processes.  It is the intent of the Cass County Sheriff's Office to dispose of any unclaimed items involved in these cases if not claimed within 30 days of this date:  May 13, 2016.  Any legal ownership claims must be in writing, verifying ownership of the specific items.  Make claims to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, c/o Jill Hershberger, Records Clerk, 321 M-62 N, Cassopolis, MI 49031

Blue Line Wilderness Run

Charity run for Zachary Sweet will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Warren Dunes State Park.  Donation of $10 per person, the event is a 2.5 mile nature walk.  Read more...

Call for Artists 2016

Dispose of Your Unwanted Prescription or Over the Counter Drugs Safely

Wanted:  Old or undesired prescription and over the counter drugs.  The Cass County Sheriff's Office is now providing a permanent drop box as a way to safely dispose of prescription and over the counter medications, vitamins, and other supplements.  Sorry, liquids, patches, sharps or lancets cannot be accepted.  The drop box is located at:  Cass County Sheriff's Office, 321 M-62, Cassopolis, MI 49031.  Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Township Property Tax Status

Summer 2015 and Winter 2015 Cass County property tax paid/unpaid  reports are listed below by township.   All 2015 tax payments must now be paid at the County Treasurer's Office, 120 N. Broadway, Suite #113, Cassopolis, MI 49031. Please contact the County Treasurer's Office at (269) 445-4468 for all tax payment information.
