The Cass County Board of Canvassers will meet in the Training Room of the Law and Courts Building at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.  The purpose of the meeting is to recount the votes cast for the Office of President of the Village of Cassopolis that were cast at the November 4, 2014 General Election.

Cass County History

Did you know that the Cass County Historical Commission has two books on the History of Cass County?

The first is “History of Cass County, from 1825 to 1875” by Howard S. Rogers. The first reprinted edition of Rogers’ history. Complete with expanded index. Hardbound. $35 + $5 shipping.
The second is “History of Cass County, Michigan” by A. Mathews. This second reprint of the 1882 publication is one of the best sources of early Cass County History and Pioneers. The book is dark red simulated leather with gold lettering. Hardbound, 471 pages, illustrated, 8 ½” x 11 ½”, ISBN 0-9615358-0-6, 1986, Indexed. $45 + $7.50 shipping.

Dispose of Your Unwanted Prescription or Over the Counter Drugs Safely

Wanted:  Old or undesired prescription and over the counter drugs.  The Cass County Sheriff's Office is now providing a permanent drop box as a way to safely dispose of prescription and over the counter medications, vitamins, and other supplements.  Sorry, liquids, patches, sharps or lancets cannot be accepted.  The drop box is located at:  Cass County Sheriff's Office, 321 M-62, Cassopolis, MI 49031.  Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Township Property Tax Status

2014 and 2013 Cass County property tax paid/unpaid  reports are listed below by township.  All 2013 tax payments must now be paid at the County Treasurer's office, 120 N. Broadway, Cassopolis.  Inquiries about 2013 taxes should be directed to the County Treasurer's office at (269) 445-4468. All 2014 tax payments must be paid at the township. Inquiries about 2014 taxes should be directed to the township treasurer.
